(Ellwood City, PA) – In what is believed to be the largest lighting installation of its kind in the United States, Appalachian Lighting Systems, Inc. (ALSI) was selected by the Allegheny County Airport Authority to manufacture and deliver 1,347 new light emitting diode (LED) lighting fixtures at the Pittsburgh International Airport. The LED units will replace the current lighting fixtures at the airport’s Parking Garage and Deck and at the Passenger Drop-off and Pick-up areas. The project is expected to save the authority at least $158,000 in energy costs every year.

ALSI, a Pennsylvania-based manufacturer, developed industry-leading solid state lighting projects to meet the requirements of this comprehensive energy and cost-saving project. ALSI was supported by Imbue Technology Solutions, Inc., ALSI’s Pittsburgh-based distributor and Cree, the market leader in semiconductor lighting solutions headquartered in North Carolina as well as a host of other U.S. component suppliers.

As example, the luminaire we developed for the parking garage is ranked at this time, through independent third party testing, as the most energy efficient light of its type in the world.”
